Children’s Screen Time

As schools have closed parents are confronted with having their children at home with them 24 hours a day and are struggling to keep them occupied. More and more time is being spent on a device. Excessive screen time is a high risk for myopia (trouble seeing far away) due to more time spent reading (near work), poor reading posture, and a closer viewing distance.
Have kids:

  1. Take regular breaks from screens – At least a 15 minute break after 2 hours of device use at a minimum.
  2. Maintain a healthy face-to-screen distance – 24 inches for computer screens and 12 inches for smartphones/tablets.
  3. Create a routine – This will ensure that their time is used productively and with purpose
